FIRE STOP DESIGN 553

Rating - 4 HR.

1. Floor or Wall Assembly

Min 150 mm (6 in.) thick normal weight concrete, min 4 hour fire rated. Max opening size of 1.21 m2 (13.0 ft2) with largest dimension 1100 mm (43.3 in.).

2. Metallic Pipe

Steel pipe of various diameters (see table below) installed within floor or wall assembly (Item #1). Pipe(s) to be rigidly supported on both sides of the assembly. Max of four pipes per opening with min 200 mm (8 in.) seperation space between the through opening and other penetrants.

3. Cable Trays

225 mm (9 in.) wide by 25 mm (1 in.) loading depth, min 1.0 mm (0.04 in.) thick steel. Max of two cable trays per opening with min 200 mm (8 in.) separation space between the through opening and other penetrants.

4. Cables

62% max fill area per tray. The following types, sizes and max number of copper conductor cables may be used:

a. 28 mm (1.1 in.) diameter power cables, with four (4) cores, each with seven (7) solid strands. Each core diameter was 7 mm (0.28 in.). The cores were all wrapped in black insulation, steel wire armor, and followed by a black outer sheathing.

b. 13 mm (0.5 in.) diameter power cables, with three (3) cores, each with seven (7) solid strands. Each core diameter was 2 mm (0.08 in.). The cores were all wrapped in black insulation, steel wire armor, and followed by a black outer sheathing.

5. Fill Material

Opening filled with mortar-like material supplied as dry powder, mixed with water at a rate of one (1) part water to three and one-half (31/2) parts powder by weight. Dry density of finished material is 1525 ± 75 kgm3 (95 ± 4.7 pcf). Min thickness 100 mm (4 in.), installed in a single operation. Removable mineral fibre forms (not shown) used beneath floor to prevent leakage during placement. For wall applications, the fill material is installed within the wall cavity flush with each side of the wall assembly.
